Mission

Build and lead a strategic finance function that enables disciplined growth, supports capital formation, and establishes scalable financial infrastructure. This role is pivotal in preparing the company for its next capital raise while ensuring operational rigor across accounting, cash management, and financial planning.

What You'll Do

• Lead capital strategy, including advising the CEO on optimal raise size, runway targets, and capital structure

• Build and maintain integrated financial models covering revenue, burn, hiring plans, unit economics, and capital expenditures

• Develop scenario analyses to guide fundraising, growth pacing, and risk management decisions

• Support investor engagement, including preparation of financial materials, data rooms, and diligence responses

• Design and implement scalable accounts payable and accounts receivable processes with strong internal controls

• Own the monthly close process and ensure accurate, GAAP compliant financial reporting

• Oversee outsourced bookkeeping and external accounting partners while retaining full accountability for output

• Establish financial policies, approval workflows, and cash management procedures

• Build and maintain rolling cash flow forecasts and KPI dashboards for executive decision making

• Partner with operations, engineering, and commercial teams to improve margins, pricing strategy, and cost structure

• Identify and remove operational bottlenecks across financial workflows to improve visibility and efficiency

• Create repeatable financial playbooks and reporting structures that support institutional investment readiness

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, or related field

• 4+ years of progressive finance experience, with exposure to venture backed startups or high growth environments

• Demonstrated experience supporting capital raises and investor diligence

• Advanced financial modeling skills with the ability to translate strategy into actionable forecasts

• Experience building or rebuilding finance infrastructure in early stage companies

Preferred Qualifications

• Strong understanding of GAAP and internal controls; CPA is a plus

• Experience managing outsourced accounting or bookkeeping partners

• Ability to operate independently in a lean, fast moving environment

• Strong analytical rigor paired with clear executive communication skills

• Industry experience in hardware, water technology, manufacturing, or regulated environments

Location Requirement: Ability to work 100% onsite in Torrance, CA (remote or hybrid work will not be considered)
