Full job description
The Lumber Manufactory (TLM) is building the future of sustainable lumber with next-generation sawmill technology. We design and operate state-of-the-art modular sawmills that produce high-grade dimensional wood products with greater efficiency and less waste. Backed by leading investors including Cantos, Slow Ventures, Susa Ventures, Banter Capital, Humba Ventures, and Ravelin Capital.
We are seeking an Engineering Technician to support hands-on execution, testing, and troubleshooting of large-scale industrial equipment at our Mississippi operations. This role is critical to keeping our systems moving forward in the field by owning on-site technical work and reducing strain on shared operational resources.
This position is ideal for someone who thrives in physical environments, enjoys working directly with complex machinery, and takes pride in solving real-world problems hands-on.
Location
This role is based on-site in New Albany, Mississippi and requires regular presence at our mill and test environments. This is a hands-on role supporting active equipment and systems.
In This Role, You Will
- Perform hands-on work with large industrial equipment, including setup, modification, and troubleshooting.
- Support hydraulic systems, mechanical assemblies, and related subsystems.
- Execute and support testing, validation, and commissioning activities.
- Conduct failure analysis and document findings to support system and design improvements.
- Own technical documentation related to builds, tests, and on-site work.
- Provide on-site technical support for system issues and operational needs.
- Partner with engineers to translate designs into working, testable systems.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with the design engineering team to align on design intent, testing priorities, and improvement feedback loops.
- Prioritize and execute work independently, managing shifting priorities with minimal day-to-day oversight.
- Adapt to changing priorities and support team and operational needs as they evolve.
Who You Are
- A hands-on technical professional who prefers working directly with equipment.
- Comfortable troubleshooting complex mechanical systems in active industrial environments.
- Reliable, resourceful, and calm when things do not go according to plan.
- Self-directed and able to manage your own workload with minimal supervision.
- Collaborative and communicative, especially when working with engineers, operators, and cross-site teams.
- Motivated by ownership, execution, and seeing work come to life in the field.
Qualifications
- Technical degree, certification, or equivalent hands-on experience in a related field.
- 5+ years of experience working with large equipment, machinery, or industrial systems.
- Experience with hydraulics, mechanical systems, and physical testing environments.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and documentation.
- Comfort working in industrial settings, including standing, lifting, and hands-on mechanical work.
- Willingness to work onsite and support evolving operational needs.
