What you get to do:
Own system-level integration of Poseidon onto commercial fishing vessels, including mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic interfaces
Design field procedures for installation, maintenance, diagnostics, and vessel readiness
Lead root-cause investigations for failures and drive design changes with ME, EE, and SW teams
Validate upgrades and new product features through structured testing and field trials
Create and maintain technical documentation, schematics, and installation standards
Travel to fishing docks across the US (approximately 50 percent travel) to oversee installs, upgrades, and complex troubleshooting
Train technicians, captains, and deck crews on safe operation and maintenance of our machinery
When not traveling, work on-site (CA) or in Chinook/remote (WA/OR) to build, test, and refine robots and integration kits
What you will need:
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, aerospace, or systems engineering
3+ years of experience with electro-mechanical systems, systems integration, or field engineering
Ability to design, analyze, and validate new interfaces and modifications under real-world constraints
Strong troubleshooting skills across electrical, mechanical, and software-adjacent subsystems
Ability to make technical decisions in ambiguous field environments
Strong communication skills and comfort working with cross-functional engineering teams and vessel operators
Bonus if you have experience with:
Designing for harsh environments including marine, offshore, or industrial settings
Writing or using CLI diagnostic tools and working alongside software engineers
Hydraulic system design or marine electrical integration
Automotive, consumer electronics, or industrial crimping and wiring standards
Other things to know:
This is an extremely hands on engineering role where you have the chance to build, test, and repair linear actuators, electric motors, PCBS, harnessing, plumbing, and structural joints.
