About The Role

As the Senior Software Engineering Manager of Cloud Infrastructure Services, you will lead teams that build scalable and reliable infrastructure and processes in support of Humane’s mission to reimagine computing. Reliability at high scale is a core feature in our product and is essential for a great user experience. We also understand that maintaining both engineering velocity and reliability is essential to building a great product. Very low latency, world-class, privacy-protecting security, and top-tier durability are all requirements for Humane to achieve our vision. AI is deeply embedded throughout our offerings and the Cloud Infrastructure Services team builds and operates MLOps technology to power those needs. Additionally, the information systems that power our employees are critical to safely and cost-effectively unlocking company-wide velocity.

What You Might Do

  • Lead and mentor a team of engineers that architect, build, and automate our mission critical infrastructure for both internal and external customers.
  • Leverage your expertise in cloud technologies and operations to define and implement impact focused strategies and roadmaps.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to align cloud initiatives with organizational goals.
  • Help manage vendors, licensing, and contracts related to cloud technologies.
  • Ensure the implementation of best practices for security, compliance, and disaster recovery.
  • Lead a team to Increase engineering velocity and safety through repeatable processes, automation, and cloud best practices
  • Consult with a multidisciplinary team of software engineers to design, build and deploy fault-tolerant and highly available systems
  • Be part of a production on-call support rotation

Essential Qualifications

  • 8+ years of production engineering, SRE or similar experience
  • 3+ years previous management experience of SRE or similar teams
  • Exceptional leadership and team management abilities.
  • Comfortable managing multiple technical teams with distinct timelines and customers
  • Strong understanding of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
  • Expertise in virtualization, containerization, networking, and security.
  • Ability to collaborate empathetically and cross functionally

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with current DevOps tools, CI/CD systems, and observability platforms.
  • Proficiency with one of AWS, GCP, or Azure
  • Fluency in Python
  • Proficiency with an Infrastructure-as-Code framework such as Terraform or Pulumi
  • Solid understanding of cloud security
  • Experience directing and scaling incident management processes and operations in a high velocity startup environment.
  • Experience with machine learning infrastructure, tools, and services supporting model training and inference.

Salary range: $185,000 - $235,000
