ABOUT HEAVISIDE INDUSTRIES

Heaviside Industries builds multi-domain autonomous precision munitions for U.S. and allied special operations and conventional forces. While modern warfare has rapidly evolved with the proliferation of unmanned systems, hyper-precise munitions in contested environments are the future of the battlefield. Economical precision strike capabilities are critical to U.S. and allied war efforts, enabling successful defeat of enemy military assets and infrastructure. Heaviside builds precision munitions designed to operate in GPS-denied and spectrum-jammed battlefields—where traditional systems degrade or fail—without inflated prices or sacrifice to performance.

All engineering and manufacturing is conducted in-house in Heaviside's Los Angeles, CA headquarters and Oslo, Norway office.

Heaviside is backed by Felicis, Hedosophia, Interlagos, Friends & Family Capital, Menlo Ventures, Flume Ventures, Cantos, and others.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Own cradle-to-grave contract administration for Heaviside's U.S. Government portfolio: DoD prime contracts, OTAs, and subcontracts, from proposal through closeout.
  • Lead contract negotiations with DoD customers and defense primes, structuring terms that protect Heaviside's IP, technical data rights, and commercial flexibility as a non-traditional contractor.
  • Serve as the company's authority on FAR/DFARS compliance, flowdowns, and agreement structures across MTA, OTA, and traditional acquisition pathways.
  • Partner with BD and Programs on proposal development for SOCOM, Army, and allied opportunities: pricing structure review, assumptions and exceptions, and risk assessment prior to submission.
  • Build and mature the contracts function: policies, templates, approval workflows, and a compliant purchasing system on the path to CPSR readiness.
  • Manage subcontracts and defense supplier agreements, including flowdown management and performance issue resolution.
  • Interface with DCMA/DCAA and government contracting officers, and coordinate with legal and export compliance on ITAR-controlled agreements and FMS/DCS matters.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • 12+ years of U.S. Government contracts experience in defense or aerospace, including direct negotiation authority on DoD prime contracts.
  • Expert command of FAR/DFARS, including technical data rights (DFARS 252.227-7013/-7014), flowdowns, and cost accounting implications of contract types (FFP, CPFF, T&M).
  • Hands-on experience with OTAs and rapid acquisition vehicles, and with converting prototype efforts into production contracts and programs of record.
  • Demonstrated success protecting IP and data rights positions for a technology company selling weapon systems or defense hardware to the government.
  • Experience building or significantly maturing a contracts function at a defense contractor, including purchasing system compliance.
  • Strong judgment communicating contract risk to executives in plain terms and driving decisions.
  • [BONUS] Experience at a venture-backed or non-traditional defense company navigating first production awards.
  • [BONUS] NCMA certification (CPCM/CFCM) or JD; familiarity with FMS/ITAR interfaces on international sales.
  • U.S. Person as defined by ITAR (22 CFR §120.62)
