Heaviside Industries builds multi-domain autonomous precision munitions for U.S. and allied special operations and conventional forces. While modern warfare has rapidly evolved with the proliferation of unmanned systems, hyper-precise munitions in contested environments are the future of the battlefield. All engineering and manufacturing is conducted in-house in Heaviside’s Los Angeles, CA headquarters and Oslo, Norway office.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

• Own the electrical design of mission-grade subsystems end to end—navigation computers, sensor boards, power systems, RF front-end and seeker electronics
• Own schematic capture, component selection and DFM-aware PCB layout for high-density mixed-signal designs in tight mechanical envelopes
• Define power architecture: battery and ordnance-grade power, DC-DC conversion and thermal management
• Own signal integrity and EMI/EMC strategy from day one; partner with mechanical to get grounding, shielding and connector strategies right
• Specify, integrate and bring up sensors and modules—IMUs, GNSS, baro, mag, RF transceivers and motor drivers
• Lead board bring-up side-by-side with firmware and embedded software
• Own qualification and environmental test campaigns: thermal, vibration, shock, EMI/EMC, HALT
• Own component obsolescence, second-source strategy and the relationship between the BOM and our manufacturing line
• Run design reviews and set the bar for electrical engineering practice as the team grows
• Work directly with program leadership on technical risk, design tradeoffs and schedule

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

• BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering or related field
• 8+ years designing PCBAs that shipped—flight, munitions, automotive, robotics or comparable mission-critical hardware
• Multiple products personally carried from schematic through qualification and into production
• Expert with a modern EDA tool (Altium, Cadence Allegro, KiCad or equivalent)
• Strong fundamentals in analog, digital, power and high-speed design
• Hands-on experience with board bring-up tools—oscilloscope, logic analyzer, network analyzer, spectrum analyzer, thermal camera
• Experience owning environmental and EMI qualification to MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-461, DO-160 or comparable
• Comfortable reading firmware and partnering with FW/embedded engineers to debug across the boundary
• U.S. Person as defined by ITAR (22 CFR §120.62)

Additional Information:

Compensation bands are determined by role, level, location, and alignment with market data. Individual level and base pay is determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related skills, education, experience, technical capabilities and internal equity. In addition to base salary, for full-time hires, you may also be eligible for long-term incentives, in the form of stock options, and access to medical, vision & dental coverage as well as access to a 401(k) retirement plan.
