Heaviside Industries builds multi-domain autonomous precision munitions for U.S. and allied special operations and conventional forces. WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Own the antenna and aperture layer of our products end to end: element and array design, conformal and electrically small antennas on tightly constrained airframes, radome design and integration, and anti-jam/CRPA apertures for navigation and datalinks in GPS-denied, spectrum-contested environments
  • Own RF integration on the vehicle: antenna placement studies, cable and interconnect design, EMI/EMC, co-site interference, and co-existence between navigation, sensing, and communications apertures inside a small airframe
  • Take apertures from first-principles concept through full-wave EM simulation (HFSS or CST), prototype fabrication, anechoic and near-field measurement, environmental qualification, and transition to rate production
  • Own aperture-to-system accountability: link budgets, gain and noise budgets, and frequency planning at the platform level, defining clean interfaces to the receive and transmit chains
  • Work across the RF chain as the mission demands: contribute to front end, converter, and board-level RF design, debug, and test alongside our RF front end engineer—at a 50-person company building complete weapons, everyone ships hardware outside their specialty
  • Stand up Heaviside's antenna and OTA measurement infrastructure—near-field/anechoic capability, calibration discipline, and production test methods that hold up under volume
  • Support production and fielded systems across the RF layer: root-cause antenna, radome, and RF hardware failures, protect design intent through supplier and component transitions, and drive yield on shipping hardware
  • Grow with the team: as Heaviside's RF group expands, this role carries a defined path toward broader technical leadership of the RF discipline

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • BS in Electrical Engineering or related field; MS or PhD in electromagnetics preferred
  • 8+ years of hands-on RF/microwave hardware experience with deep antenna/aperture specialization, and antennas that reached production and fielding
  • Demonstrated design ownership across the aperture layer: element and array design, conformal and electrically small antennas, and radome effects on real platforms
  • Anti-jam/CRPA or GNSS antenna experience strongly preferred, including multi-element apertures for interference-contested environments
  • Expert full-wave EM simulation in HFSS or CST, backed by the measurement skills to correlate model to reality—anechoic chamber, near-field scanning, VNA, and multi-port S-parameter debugging
  • Genuine hands-on ability across the wider RF chain—LNAs, filters, mixers, power amplifiers, frequency conversion, and board-level RF design and debug—you can carry a design or a bring-up outside the aperture when the schedule needs it
  • Experience integrating multiple RF apertures on a constrained platform—placement trades, co-site interference analysis, and EMI/EMC to military standards (MIL-STD-461/464 or equivalent) preferred
  • Ability to define and defend link budgets, gain/noise budgets, and frequency plans at the platform level
  • Experience with qualification of RF hardware to military or aerospace environmental standards preferred
  • Experience standing up or operating antenna measurement ranges is a strong plus
  • Comfortable in a fast-moving, build-first environment where you split time between the design tools, the bench, and the chamber
  • U.S. Person as defined by ITAR (22 CFR §120.62)

Compensation bands are determined by role, level, location, and alignment with market data. Individual level and base pay is determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related skills, education, experience, technical capabilities and internal equity. In addition to base salary, for full-time hires, you may also be eligible for long-term incentives in the form of stock options, access to medical, vision & dental coverage, and access to a 401(k) retirement plan.
