ABOUT HEAVISIDE INDUSTRIES
Heaviside Industries builds multi-domain autonomous precision munitions for U.S. and allied special operations and conventional forces. While modern warfare has rapidly evolved with the proliferation of unmanned systems, hyper-precise munitions in contested environments are the future of the battlefield. Economical precision strike capabilities are critical to U.S. and allied war efforts, enabling successful defeat of enemy military assets and infrastructure. Heaviside builds precision munitions designed to operate in GPS-denied and spectrum-jammed battlefields—where traditional systems degrade or fail—without inflated prices or sacrifice to performance.
All engineering and manufacturing is conducted in-house in Heaviside's Los Angeles, CA headquarters and Oslo, Norway office.
Heaviside is backed by Interlagos, Menlo Ventures, Flume Ventures, Cantos, Anorak Ventures, and Ravelin Ventures.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Own day-to-day accounting for Heaviside’s Norway entity — general ledger, accounts payable and receivable, bank reconciliations, and the monthly, quarterly, and annual close.
- Prepare statutory financial statements under Norwegian GAAP (Regnskapsloven) and support consolidation and reporting into U.S. HQ.
- Manage Norwegian corporate tax and VAT (MVA) compliance, and act as the primary liaison to external auditors, tax advisors, and Norwegian authorities.
- Oversee payroll and related statutory reporting — a-melding, occupational pension (OTP), and employer’s national insurance — in partnership with local providers.
- Build and maintain manufacturing and inventory cost accounting as production scales: standard costs, labor and overhead absorption, WIP, and inventory valuation.
- Establish and enforce internal controls, accounting policies, and close procedures appropriate to a fast-growing defense manufacturer.
- Partner with operations, procurement, and program teams on budgeting, forecasting, cash management, and purchase-commitment tracking.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- 6+ years of progressive accounting experience, including ownership of a full-cycle close; manufacturing, hardware, aerospace, or defense environments strongly preferred.
- Deep working knowledge of Norwegian GAAP, the Accounting Act (Regnskapsloven) and Bookkeeping Act (Bokføringsloven), and Norwegian tax and VAT compliance.
- Experience preparing statutory accounts and supporting group consolidation, ideally into a U.S.-headquartered parent.
- Hands-on with ERP and accounting systems (e.g., NetSuite, Visma, Tripletex, or similar) and comfortable improving process in a lean, high-growth setting.
- Strong command of cost accounting and inventory valuation in a physical-product business.
- Professional fluency in Norwegian and English, written and spoken.
- Based in, or willing to relocate to, the greater Oslo area; this role is on-site.
- [BONUS] Recognized accounting qualification (statsautorisert/registrert revisor, or equivalent).
- [BONUS] Experience with cross-border U.S.–Europe finance operations and intercompany accounting.
- [BONUS] Familiarity with export-controlled or security-vetted manufacturing environments.
