ABOUT HEAVISIDE INDUSTRIES
Heaviside Industries builds multi-domain autonomous precision munitions for U.S. and allied special operations and conventional forces. While modern warfare has rapidly evolved with the proliferation of unmanned systems, hyper-precise munitions in contested environments are the future of the battlefield. Economical precision strike capabilities are critical to U.S. and allied war efforts, enabling successful defeat of enemy military assets and infrastructure. Heaviside builds precision munitions designed to operate in GPS-denied and spectrum-jammed battlefields—where traditional systems degrade or fail—without inflated prices or sacrifice to performance.
All engineering and manufacturing is conducted in-house in Heaviside’s Los Angeles, CA headquarters and Oslo, Norway office.
Heaviside is backed by Interlagos, Menlo Ventures, Flume Ventures, Cantos, Anorak Ventures, and Ravelin Ventures.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Build and run targeted candidate searches across LinkedIn Recruiter, Juicebox, technical conference proceedings, professional society rosters, patent records, and published research.
- Write and send high-volume outbound outreach that a senior engineer will actually answer, and track response rates rigorously enough to know which messaging works.
- Pre-qualify every replying candidate against defined requirements before scheduling: U.S. Person status, location and relocation reality, and compensation expectation. Nothing reaches a hiring manager's calendar without those three confirmed.
- Maintain accurate, current pipeline records in our applicant tracking system so that search status is legible to the recruiting lead and to hiring managers at any moment.
- Work a stack-ranked queue of open searches that changes weekly as priorities move, rather than owning a fixed set of requisitions.
- Develop working knowledge of our programs and our engineering disciplines — enough to hold a credible ninety-second conversation with a principal engineer about why this role is worth their time.
- Map the talent landscape in our markets: which companies produce the skills we need, which programs are winding down, where the people we want are currently sitting.
- Partner closely with the Talent Acquisition lead on search strategy, candidate calibration, and outreach messaging.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- 0-3 years of full-time sourcing or recruiting experience with a demonstrated record of technical outbound, in-house or agency.
- Fluency with Boolean search construction and with at least one sourcing platform at a professional level. You should be able to build a search string for an unfamiliar discipline after asking the right clarifying questions.
- The ability to read a resume or profile for evidence rather than for keywords, and to tell the difference between a stated skill and an implied one.
- High personal throughput and the organizational discipline to sustain it. This role is measured on qualified candidates delivered, and volume is part of how that happens.
- Clear, direct written communication. Your outreach is often a candidate's first impression of Heaviside.
- Comfort operating with incomplete information in a company that changes priorities faster than a large one would.
- Sourcing experience in defense, aerospace, or another export-controlled industry, including familiarity with citizenship and clearance requirements as screening criteria.
- Exposure to hardware engineering disciplines — RF, embedded, controls, mechanical, manufacturing — sufficient to distinguish adjacent specializations.
- Experience at a company under three hundred people.
- Interest in moving toward full-cycle technical recruiting. This role has a defined path there.
