PCB Layout Design Engineer
Eridan
About Eridan
At Eridan we believe in the power of collaboration and communication to achieve our mission: connect the planet to empower a sustainable, shared future. That mission is possible with our patented transmitter which decreases the cost and power required to roll out 5G by 10x when deployed globally. This is all facilitated through our offices: our Sunnyvale headquarters has big windows (even in the lab!), is walking distance to downtown and the Caltrain, and fits the entire team in the cafeteria for our frequent company parties. About this Job
Eridan is expanding our Engineering team and is seeking a skilled PCB Layout Design Engineer. In this role, you will be responsible for designing PCBs from layout to manufacturing, ensuring designs meet mechanical, electrical, and cost requirements, while also managing our component library. You will collaborate with vendors, process engineering, and production teams to optimize manufacturability and minimize DFx feedback. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, is adaptable, curious, and communicates effectively.
As our PCB Layout Design Engineer, you will:
PCB Layout and Design:
- Perform complex internal PCB layouts using Altium.
- Create schematic symbols and component footprints as needed.
- Implement mixed-signal design techniques including RF (up to 10 GHz) and high-speed digital circuits (e.g., FPGA/BGA, DDR4).
- Apply routing rules and techniques to ensure signal and power integrity.
Vendor Collaboration & Manufacturing:
- Work with PCB and PCBA vendors to optimize design rules and minimize DFx feedback.
- Select PCB and PCBA vendors in collaboration with Process Engineering and Production.
- Match design tolerances and requirements to vendor capabilities to ensure manufacturability and cost-effectiveness.
Process Improvement & Workflow Development:
- Contribute to developing and improving PCB design processes and internal workflows.
- Build and maintain component libraries using datasheets and IPC standards.
- Participate in DFx and design review processes to continuously improve design quality.
Qualifications of a Successful Candidate
- Minimum 5 years of PCB layout experience, preferably using Altium.
- Experience with mixed-signal PCB design, including RF up to 10 GHz.
- Strong background in complex FPGA/BGA routing and high-speed digital design (DDR4).
- Experience with DFx processes and cost reduction in complex circuits and layouts.
- Proven experience in PCB and PCBA vendor selection and collaboration.
- Knowledge of routing techniques and rules of thumb for signal/power integrity.
- Ability to translate design requirements into manufacturable PCBs aligned with vendor capabilities.
Nice-to-Have:
- Experience creating and managing component libraries according to IPC standards.
- Familiarity with optimizing PCB layout for cost, performance, and manufacturability.
- Demonstrated adaptability in fast-paced, growth-oriented environments.
