Dusty Robotics is a venture-backed startup automating construction through advanced robotics. Dusty envisions a future in which construction workers make use of robotic automation to make their work safer, more efficient, and more precise; a future in which they don't need to retire early because their bodies give out. In Dusty's vision, the buildings where we live, work and play are built by teams of creative and problem-solving construction crews, who are directing robots to do the physically demanding and dangerous work.
The centerpiece of our strategy is the FieldPrinter: a mobile printer-on-wheels that prints building floorplans (in CAD format) full-size on the concrete floor of a construction site. What You'll Do:
We are looking to hire an experienced manufacturing test engineer to design and implement manufacturing test processes for our products. You will be responsible for analyzing the product features, designing test parameters, creating customized quality checks, and writing up final test procedures for the technicians. You should have in-depth knowledge of engineering and product design, a good eye for detail, and the ability to think outside the box.
Additional Duties:
- Work with Engineering to determine product testing parameters
- Write test plans and create test cases for the product
- Develop and implement manufacturing test strategy during development and production phases of product lifecycle
- Design and build test fixtures and automated functional test equipment
- Troubleshoot any errors and streamline the testing procedure
- Document the testing procedure
- Implement manufacturing test internally and at contract manufacturer site
- Train contract manufacturer test engineers/technicians and provide technical support when needed
- Work with Customer Support to debug field failures at customer sites
- Implement a system to collect and analyze manufacturing, service, and field failures data
- Analyze the data to increase manufacturing and service test coverage and minimize DOA (Dead on Arrival) and field failure incidents
- Prepare reports on failure trends, root causes, and corrective actions to management
Who You Are:
- BS degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
- 4+ years experience as Manufacturing Test Engineer or similar role
- Familiarity with robotics, mechatronics, or electro-mechanical assemblies
- Experience with module and system test and manufacturing test implementation and execution
- Proven experience defining, developing, and troubleshooting manufacturing test issues
- Experience coding with Python
- Familiarity with testing tools
- Problem solving and communication skills
- Flexibility and adaptability to work in a dynamic startup environment
