Main Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Planning: Developing and implementing operational strategies aligned with the organization's goals and objectives in biotech research, development, and production.
  • Project Management: Overseeing research projects, application/customer trials, and product development initiatives to ensure they are executed efficiently, meet deadlines, and adhere to regulatory requirements.
  • Manufacturing and Supply Chain Management: Managing the manufacturing processes, including sourcing raw materials, ensuring quality control, optimizing production efficiency, and coordinating supply chain activities to ensure timely delivery of products.
  • Compliance and Regulatory Affairs: Ensuring adherence to regulatory guidelines, such as FDA/EPA regulations, and managing interactions with regulatory authorities, counsel, and consultants to obtain necessary approvals and maintain compliance throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborating with research and development teams, quality assurance, regulatory affairs, marketing, and other departments to align operational activities, facilitate communication, and support efficient workflows.
  • Budgeting and Resource Allocation: Collaborating with Senior leadership and CFO to manage operational budgets, optimizing resource allocation, and identifying cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality and compliance.
  • Continuous Improvement: Implementing process improvements, leveraging new technologies, and optimizing operational efficiency to enhance productivity and quality in biotech operations.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Maintain relationships with external or outsourcing partners: Contract Research Organizations, Contract Manufacturing Organizations, PEO, IT, and EHS activities.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in technical field with 8-10 years in biotech operations.
  • Communicates effectively with people at all levels, including the ability to understand their priorities, and to earn their respect and trust, along with the willingness to provide them with the best decisions in time-sensitive situations.
  • Ability to work independently and successfully, prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously, integrate cross-functional issues and balance competing priorities effectively.
  • Must be able to manage shifting priorities to meet critical deadlines in a fast paced and dynamic, growing environment, while providing clear direction to team members.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and critical thinking skills and the ability to lead as a change agent to promote flexibility, creativity, and accountability.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A history of developing and building cohesive, high performing teams with a strong sense of mission, providing training and mentoring to build sufficient management depth throughout the organization and ensure strong succession planning.
  • An ability to build strong partnerships and effectively integrate with external collaborators to drive projects/programs forward in a matrixed environment.
