Manager/Team Leader - Bioprocess Downstream Engineer

We are seeking an experienced, highly motivated individual to lead a multi-disciplinary team of scientists and engineers responsible for the development of novel industrial enzymes, with emphasis on the development of scalable, commercially viable production processes for enzymes expressed in microbial hosts (bacteria, yeast, and filamentous fungi). This position reports directly to the Head of Bioprocess.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Technical and line management responsibility for bioprocess activities related to fermentation and scalable DSP unit operation development. Hands-on participation in laboratory workflows and campaigns is also required.
  • Coordinate development activities carried out at CRO/CMO lab and pilot scales and balance internal resources.
  • Interface and coordinate closely with Curie Co’s Head of Bioprocess. Participate and advise in the development of final product specifications and oversee the preparation of data summaries and documents supporting technology transfer to pilot and manufacturing facilities.
  • Contribute to the overall success of Curie Co as a member of our R&D Leadership Team.

Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in (Bio)Chemical Engineering, or other relevant discipline, with 5 - 8 years of highly relevant technical and management experience, or a BS/MS in (Bio)Chemical Engineering, or other relevant discipline and a minimum of 10+ years of highly relevant technical and management experience.
  • Strong track record of managing motivated, energetic technical teams of 2 - 5 scientists and engineers, maximizing their technical and professional development.
  • Strong broad technical knowledge and direct hands-on experience with pilot and commercial-scale bioprocessing.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge and direct experience in the production of industrial enzymes.
  • Experience developing tech transfer packages and successful transition of those packages.
  • Experience working in both larger company and start-up environments is a plus.
