This is a DOD Skillbridge position and is designed specifically for eligible active-duty military personnel. As pioneers in space logistics, Atomos deeply values the unparalleled expertise and potential our service members bring during their pivotal transition to civilian roles. Through our partnership with the DOD Skillbridge, we’ve designed a program to allow service members to work alongside us on our mission to revolutionize space mobility and logistics in their final days (up to 180) of active-duty service.
Job description
Atomos Space is pioneering space logistics with our Orbital Transfer Vehicles (OTVs). Engineered for a diverse array of operations—such as satellite life extension, in-space transportation, and cargo delivery—our OTVs are setting new standards in space mobility and sustainability. With the backing of private investors and continuous support from government contracts, Atomos stands firmly at the forefront of space technology, driving innovation and ensuring a dynamic future for the space ecosystem.
Atomos Space is a venture-funded startup in Denver, CO seeking to reduce the cost of access to space by developing orbital transfer vehicles (OTVs) to solve the “last mile” problem in Earth orbit. We are currently seeking an experienced paralegal/legal professional, who is eligible to participate in a Military Fellowship through the DOD Skillbridge program. This internship offers hands-on experience and the opportunity to work on real legal matters in the context of licensing, export control, compliance, contracts, and confidentiality agreements.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Assist with research, document preparation, review, labeling and file management.
- Review and analyze contracts and agreements for errors.
- Assist with writing and delivery of correspondence and legal documents to customers, vendors, and other business partners.
- Creating and maintaining databases and tracking systems to record pertinent operational and legal information.
- Work with legal team in filing/reviewing licensing applications.
- Monitor/review ITAR and EAR restrictions and procedures
- Prepare, review and record confidentiality agreements, identify and summarize legal and business issues on proposed confidentiality agreements.
- Assist Executive staff with projects as assigned and collaborate with cross-functional teams to support legal initiatives.
- Be capable of both working independently and seamlessly integrating with a team depending on the project.
Qualifications
- Minimum 4 years of experience in legal field
- Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced setting
- Ability to learn quickly and act decisively.
- Experience maintaining a filing system.
- High degree of integrity, collaboration, and professionalism required.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain highly confidential information required.
- Demonstrated ability to manage projects with changing priority.
- Self-starter that works well under pressure and responds proactively to change.
- Professional business demeanor and ability to handle confidential and time sensitive information appropriately.

Desired Experience
- Currently active-duty service member
- Within 4 to 12 months of separation or retirement.
- Honorable discharge.
- Attended service TAPS/TGPS
- Attended or participated in an ethics brief within the last 12 months.
- Able to receive Unit Commander (first O-4/Field Grade commander in chain of command) written authorization and approval to participate in DoD SkillBridge Program prior to the start of the internship.
- Meets all other DoD SkillBridge Qualifications per DODI 1322.29.
