We are seeking a Quantum Theory Manager who will grow and manage our Theory team. The Theory team will support a variety of projects that help with the development of neutral atom quantum computing.
Candidates will also be considered for Atom's location in Boulder, CO. Under exceptional circumstances we may allow the position to be fully remote.
Job Responsibilities:
- Lead and mentor our theory team to perform at their best
- Collaborate with Quantum Engineering, Quantum Applications Engineering, Quantum Error Correction and Control Systems Engineering teams to define theory requirements and influence strategy Manage independent and collaborative theoretical and computational projects pertaining to neutral atom quantum computing
- Manage the development and operation of a variety of atomic physics theory projects
- Manage the development and operation of classical simulations of quantum hardware
- Recruit, hire, and retain top software engineering talent
Experience & Education:
- PhD (or Masters degree and equivalent professional experience) in Physics or a related field
- A minimum of 5-7 years of relevant professional experience as a Quantum Theorist
- 3+ years of managing a team of theorists, including hiring, coaching and performance management
Qualifications:
- Deep understanding of atomic, molecular and optical physics
- Proficiency with software tools to simulate atomic structure and interactions between atoms and light
- Experienced with physics based simulations of gate operations and/or quantum error correction are pluses
- Ability to adapt and develop complex computer programs
- Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with a diverse team of experimental physicists, hardware, and software engineers
- Temperamentally suited to work at a fast-growing, early stage startup: self-motivated, humble, driven, collaborative, and has a high tolerance for ambiguity and uncertainty.

The base salary range for this position is between $180,000 - $220,000, commensurate with experience. In addition to salary, we offer an annual bonus and equity in the company.
